BB Chalet 21st May - 23rd May 2010 - Tribute to the 95s of the 87th Boys' Brigade
Tribute to the 95s of the 87th Boys' Brigade
Chalet started on Friday Night from 7pm and ended on Sunday Morning @ 10plus am.
Throughout this short period of time, I don't really see much changes in the boys.
Most probably due to reason being slack & time constraint.
For the second time being instructor, my role is being the Angel, the one who don't really yell & scream at them much.
In other words, welfare instructor(?). To be exact, I just can't be bothered by them! Haha..
Why would I wanna yell at those kids, it ain't fun thing at all.
But I really wish I have the ability to train out a batch of good leaders.
Well, at least, being able to train my juniors into future leaders.
On the night before the Voting of Council`10 by the kids, we(Sirs, Ma`am, Primers & Instructors) held a nomination of Council`10 meeting.
Well... it turned out pretty smooth but I just don't agree to the way it's being done.
We, seniors know the kids better than anyone else. (among Boys)
Especially me, I spent most of my time with the 95's batch, in the year 2009.
Aloysius, Yi Sheng, Boon Tien, Galen & Pei Zhi.
I know them considerable well, & I can see shadows of us (Echo Batch)
Aloysius is just like Sebas, the very outgoing extrovert who's being able to control situations well though easily stressed out & good in socialising
Yi Sheng, similar to Kia Seng, the semi-introvert who's better at getting better with friends rather than making new friends, being able to adapt to suddenly-changed situations well.
Boon Tien & Galen is just like Jing Sheng and Yu Xiang, rebellious yet clear of what they're doing. Respect teachers but very mischievous. High popularity due to their 'joker side' as they're great friends, somebody who can make you laugh out loud.
Pei Zhi, not really like me, but one point similar.
Underwent a great change after the 1st year in BB; I changed a lot after being in the Boys' Brigade for 1 year, I felt that I really turned matured, I know what's brotherhood already, I know how to view & handle things differently & I know that life ain't supposed to be sad, we should be optimistic.
That's when I learnt & turned into the changed person; the outgoing, friendly & optimistic self.
As for Pei Zhi, he changed a lot after his 1st year in BB. From being able to express great leadership, socialising skills & start off any random favorable conversation, he turned arrogant, or rather irritating in a way, full of sarcasm & detestable. I really wish to know what's the reason behind all these changes but he's being so different. I felt like the Pei Zhi I used to know ain't him anymore.
Back to where I was, I think I'm like extractions of the 4 early-mentioned 95s since none of them really resembles me fully. (According to Kia Seng)
Aloysius, his appearance, extroverted characteristics (socialising, communicating, etc)
Yi Sheng, his crapness, introverted personality (for me, at times) & ability to adapt to different situations.
Boon Tien, his physical jokes (for me, sometimes) & his preference for being responsibility-free
Galen, his ability to guai lan, sarcasm, act guai-ness & blend in quickly to different cliques.
Well anyway, the 5 of them ended up in the Council of 2010.
Aloysius as the CSM (Company Sergeant Major)
Boon Tien as the DY (DeputY Company Sergeant Major)
Yi Sheng as Admin I/C (Administration In Charge)
Galen as Awards I/C
Pei Zhi as QM (Quarter-Master) (My descendant) (Jakeh's grand descendant)
Lin Htoo as Treasurer ( 96s' Hope, the One I've chosen to train into future leader) [:
Many thought that Yi Sheng should be the DY, since he had put in much more effort compared to Boon Tien.
& Boon Tien himself didn't intend to become the DY, as mentioned, he's just like me, has the preference of being free from responsibilities.
The votings are done by the Juniors, they have the rights to choose their CSM & DY, but the problem is, do they have the judgement? But since it's already confirmed & settled, let's not talk about it anymore.
And since Boon Tien has been assigned the post of DY, I trust that he'll do a great job about that.
As for Yi Sheng, since everyone's for the better good of 87th, it doesn't matter who take up the role, so just work together & make more future leaders, let 87th soar for once more.
For quite a few occasions already, I have the thought of being wanting to meet up these juniors of mine privately to have a good talk with them. I wanted to find out their thoughts of regarding many stuffs.
I just need that opportunity. A heart-to-heart talk would really just inspire people if the message is delivered. I'm inspired by a talk like this. But all I want to, is just to let them know about what they truly wants & achieve in BB.
Now that the new Council of 2010 has been formed, I hope that they would really put in the effort to do it well, and of course, at the same time, not neglecting their studies.
I really hope that none of them would follow my footsteps. (Hah!)
To the 95s :
Bear this in mind; If you're capable of teaching your Juniors using a method other than scolding & punishing, then use it. The reason behind everything is just to let them learn in a tough way & if you can make it easier, do it.
I admit that I'd failed as a Senior, in terms of being a role model & teachings. But I wish that you guys would do a much better job than I do. Well, in fact, all I did was to just be a friend to you all.
Whatever it is, & though you guys (BB 95s) may not see this, but still, all the best to you guys in BB.Labels: Boys' Brigade
Yet another entry by WEN SHENG.
