Farewell, Cyber-world.
(27 June 2010/11:34 AM)

Something wrong with my PC now.
Won't be updating until I get a new comp.
Sorry nuffnang, can't help you advertise anymore.
HAHAHA.
Alright... unless it's coursework or research, if not I won't be touching comp until O's over.
No DotA, MafiaWars and Mousehunt.
Shall resume blogging after O's..
Or maybe, update once a month.
Cool. HAHA.
My comp's only for PPS now.
Cos' there's internet but no connection to others.
Stupid virus. HAHA.
Whatever...
Oh by the way....
June of 2010 is such an academically-unproductive month!

武术之少年行 / Wushu: The Young Generation (2008 Film)
(22 June 2010/9:23 PM)

Film Name : 武术之少年行 / Wushu: The Young Generation
Directed by : Anthony Szeto (司徒永华)
Produced by : Jackie Chan (成龙) & Colette Koo (顾嘉玲)
Starring : Sammo Hung (洪金宝), Liu Feng Chao (刘峰超) & Wang Wen Jie (王文杰)
Running time : 101 minutes

Plot :
Ten years ago, five students joined a martial arts school and learned the disciplines of Wushu and the bonds of friendship. Today, both will be put to the test after they and a former student stumble into a child kidnapping ring.

Trailer :

在中国,真正的武者不只是搏杀的高手,而是一种刚健昂扬、智慧果敢、有原则、有坚持、不苟且、不猥琐(仁、义、礼、智、勇)的精神。
Wushu does not grant the ability to kill upon mastery, but a vigorous, energetic, intelligent, courageous, principled, not perfunctory and significant* spirit.
*significant : benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom & courage.

"在武术中,谁胜过谁,是没意义的

最后要胜过的,还是自己。"

Martial arts' greater than Kung-fu to me now...
But if given the choice to learn one of those, I'll still pick kung-fu. ;)

少林三十六房 / The 36th Chamber of Shaolin (1978 Film)
(/3:10 PM)

Film Name : 少林三十六房 / The 36th Chamber of Shaolin
Directed by : Liu Chia-Liang (刘家良)
Produced by : Mona Fong (方逸华) & Run Run Shaw (邵逸夫)
Starring : Gordon Liu (刘家辉) & Lo Lieh (罗烈)
Running Time : 115 minutes

Plot :
A young student named San Te is drawn by his activist teacher into the local rebellion against the Manchu government. The government officials suppress the uprising and liquidate the school, killing friends and family members as well. San Te seeks vengeance. Wounded in an attack by Manchu henchmen, he flees to the Shaolin temple and seeks training in kung-fu. Initially the Buddhist monks reject him, since he is an outsider, but the chief abbot takes mercy on the young man and lets him stay. One year later, he begins his martial arts training in the temple's 35 chambers and advances more rapidly than any previous student. Along the way, he is depicted as inventing the three section staff.
However, as San Te nears the end of his education, the temple officially exiles him as a disguised way to allow him to aid the people against the oppressors. He returns to the outside world, namely to his hometown, and assists the people by teaching them martial arts. Before the political revolution he is inspiring to complete, he is forced into conflict with the Manchu governor. Finally, he triumphs and returns to the Shaolin temple, where he establishes the 36th chamber, a special martial arts class for common people to learn kung fu without having to become a monk first.

Trailer :

Widely considered to be one of the greatest kung fu films ever made and a highly influential entry in the genre.
This classic film is said to be the turning point of the director's and main starring star's careers.
This is a must-watch if you love classical kung-fu films as much as I do.
Classical kung-fu films which had every fighting scenes filmed without the using of stunt-man, featuring the stars' real kung-fu.
Lastly, I'm anticipating for the release of 新少林寺 / The New Shaolin Temple, 2010 film directed by Benny Chan, starring Jackie Chan, Andy Lau, Nicholas Tse & Fan Bingbing!
Till then!
Maybe not, stay tune! ;)

In the line of fire between high levels of corruption and possible malice, Manfred must solve all the twists and turns of the mystery, trying to figure out who his enemy is and how to save his innocent partner from unfathomable disgrace. Unwittingly, he is about to open a Pandoras Box that will threaten to upend the entire Hong Kong Police Force.

Trailer (Cantonese with English & Chinese subtitles) :

Yet another 'police corruption at street and institutional levels on the surface' Hong Kong film.
Director Dante Lam throws in everything but the kitchen sink in a story that somehow works in South Asian arms dealers, a Mainland bomber, and drug dealing cop killers.
Any real thought about the nature of duty and the law is swept aside for action, action and more action!
If you want action, watch it!
Up next, should most probably be Toy Story 1, 2 & 3 reviews since NBA's over!

2010 NBA CHAMPIONSHIPS

LOS ANGELES LAKERS!

2ND STRAIGHT YEAR
16TH TITLE IN FRANCHISE HISTORY~

Post-Championships Celebration :
Bill Russell presents the Bill Russell Finals MVP trophy to Kobe Bryant after the Lakers defeated the Celtics in Game 7.

Sasha Vujacic pours champagne into Ron Artest's mouth as they celebrate the Lakers' championship.
Artest just got his first NBA championships.

Phil Jackson thanks the crowd as the Lakers celebrate their fifth championship with him as head coach.

--- Jerry Buss says Phil Jackson not coaching Lakers next season ---
Jerry Buss, Lakers franchise owner has now officially announced that Phil Jackson will not be with the Los Angeles Lakers for next season.
We've heard from the commentary during game 7 earlier that Jackson has been thinking of not coming back next year because of health concerns but we didn't think that he was really serious.
Now, its official, Jackson will no longer be coach of the Lakers next season.
We don’t know what this will mean to the Lakers but this will be a very big loss for them.
Phil has been a very vital part of the Lakers’ success and it would clearly affect the players even if they still retain the same team for next year.
Earlier today during an interview, Kobe Bryant has said that he wants Phil to stay but now after hearing news that he will no longer be coaching.
Every Lakers player might really feel down.

Post-Game Numbers :
5 Championships for Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher. Bryant also earned his second straight Bill Russell Finals MVP trophy behind averages of roughly 28 points, eight boards and four assists in the series, including 23 points and 15 rebounds in Game 7.
16 NBA Championships for the Lakers’ franchise, including two straight.
20 Points for Ron Artest, none bigger than a dagger three-pointer from the wing, off Bryant’s pass, with 1:01 left in the fourth quarter to put the Lakers up 79-73. His fellow Queens, N.Y., native Lamar Odom saved his best play for the second half, during which he scored six of seven points and grabbed five of seven rebounds.
23 Offensive rebounds for the Lakers, led by Pau Gasol’s remarkable nine (of his 17), by far a high for the playoffs and helping the team overcome the following number…
32.5 L.A.’s shooting percentage in the game. The Lakers also missed 12 free throws, but hit 16-of-21 in the deciding fourth quarter, led by Bryant’s 8-of-9.

--- Shaq to Kobe : Congrats man ---
Kobe Bryant said this championship was sweeter to him as an individual because it means he has one more NBA championship than Shaquille O’Neal.

Shaq hasn’t forgotten his former teammate, either and congratulated Bryant via Twitter (even though Bryant’s not on Twitter), saying:

Congratulations Kobe, u deserve it. U played great. Enjoy it man enjoy it. I know what ur sayin “Shaq how my (rear) taste"

Shaq might have lost his edge in NBA titles, but he apparently hasn’t lost his sense of humor.

2010 NBA Finals

Boston Celtics vs. Los Angeles Lakers - GAME 7

Lakers gutted out an 83-79 victory over the Celtics Thursday in Game 7 of the NBA Finals to win back-to-back championships and notch the franchise's 16th title, one shy of tying arch-rival Boston.
"Well, it's done," said Lakers coach Phil Jackson, who won his 11th title. "It wasn't well done, but it was done.
"And we did it with perseverance."
The Lakers have now won their fifth championship in 11 years. Next season they will look to be the first team to 3-peat since they accomplished that feat from 2000-02.

Kobe Bryant pulls up for jumper while Paul Pierce tries to defend him.

Kobe Bryant picks himself up off the court during Game 7.

Bryant was named the Finals MVP for the second straight season. Despite struggling in the series finale, he came through when it counted the most. Bryant scored 10 of his game-high 23 points in the final period, which included 8-for-9 from the free-throw line. He also had 15 rebounds.
After the game, Bryant admitted to having pressed too much as he struggled from the field, shooting a postseason-worst 6-for-24 from the field.
"I wanted it so, so bad," said Bryant, who now joins Laker great Magic Johnson with his fifth ring. "The more I tried to push, the more it kept getting away from me. I'm just glad that my teammates really got us back in the game."
When asked what this championship meant individually, Bryant had some fun.

With Bryant struggling, it was the other Lakers who pulled through.
Pau Gasol finished with 19 points and 18 rebounds..

while Artest came up big with 20 points and five steals and Derek Fisher added 10.

Ron Artest tries to box out Paul Pierce as both wait to fight for the rebound.

Artest quite possibly played his best game as a Laker. During one stretch in the second quarter, he scored 10 of his team's 13 points. He had several key defensive stops as well.
"Ron Artest was the most valuable player tonight," Jackson said. "He brought life to our team, he brought life to the crowd."
When the Lakers were receiving their 2009 championship rings during the season opener, Artest sat alone in the locker room. Now he has one of his own.
"Unbelievable. Unbelievable," said Artest as he took a swig of champagne. "When we won, I didn't know we won.
"I cried earlier before the game. How stupid was that? And then when you win you don't cry. How dumb is that?"

Kevin Garnett wins the jump ball against Pau Gasol in the first quarter.

Following the loss, the Celtics were emotional.
"Well there's a lot of crying in our locker room, a lot of people who care," Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. "I don't think there was a dry eye. A lot of hugs, a lot of people feeling awful."
The loss didn't diminish what this season has meant to Rivers, however.
"It was the craziest, most emotional group I've ever coached in my life," he said. "I told them, they made me reach to places that I never thought I needed to go...so that's what makes (this loss) tough."
In the loss, five Celtics finished in double figures. Ray Allen had 13 points, 3 steals, 2 assists & 2 rebounds
while Rasheed Wallace had 11 points, 2 assists & 8 rebounds.

Rajon Rondo hustles and dives for a loose ball while Kobe Bryant also fights for the ball.
Rondo had 13 points, 10 assists & 8 rebounds.

Paul Pierce and Derek Fisher hustle after a loose ball.
Pierce had 18 points, 2 assists & 10 rebounds.

Glen Davis gets wrapped up by Ron Artest late in the first quarter.

Kevin Garnett does his best impression of a sky hook as he shoots over Andrew Bynum.
Garnett had 17 points, 2 assists & 3 rebounds.

Rajon Rondo leads the fast break while being chased by several Lakers.

Despite a balanced attack and leading most of the game, Boston seemingly crumbled down the stretch. They were outscored 30-22 in the final period and couldn't stop the Lakers without fouling, as evidenced by LA's 16-for-21 performance from the line in the fourth quarter.
"This is probably one of the hardest feelings I've felt in my lifetime," Allen said.

(17 June 2010/10:17 PM)

2010 NBA Finals

Boston Celtics vs. Los Angeles Lakers - GAME 6

The Purple and Gold were omnipresent throughout a championship-like performance that produced Tuesday’s 89-67 Game 6 blowout victory over Boston to force a Finals Game 7 that will decide which of the previous two Larry O’Brien trophy winners will become the 2010 champs.
L.A.’s stars were brilliant, led by Kobe Bryant’s 26-point, 11-rebound, 4-steal effort and Pau Gasol’s 17-point, 13-rebound, 9-assist near triple-double.

Kobe is ready to play in Game 6, leading all scorers at the half.

Kobe Bryant drives past Tony Allen early in the third quarter.
Bryant had 26 points, 3 assists, 11 rebounds & 4 steals.

Gasol & Bryant.

(Left to right) Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom & Jordon Farmar

Gasol had a near triple-double Game 6, scoring 17 points, 9 assists & 13 rebounds which includes 5 offensive ones.

Andrew Bynum drives through Kendrick Perkins and Kevin Garnet early in the first quarter. Perkins was later lost for the game with a knee injury.

Tony Allen pushes down the head of Jordan Farmar in the second period
(THIS IS SUPER CUTE! WTH!) Hahaha...

Ron Artest putting in a three-pointer.
Artest had 15 points & 6 rebounds.

Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol try to rip the ball away from Kevin Garnett during Game 6.

Derek Fisher drives past Rajon Rondo as the Lakers expand their lead late in the fourth quarter.
Fisher had only 4 points and played for only 15 mins in Game 6 due to fouling issues.
Replaced by Jordan Farmar & Shannon Brown.

Shannon Brown's amazing slam!
Brown had 4 points, 2 assists & 2 rebounds.

In what was a must-win to keep their hopes of a repeat alive, the Lakers answered emphatically, blowing out the Celtics, 89-67, in Game 6 of the NBA Finals Wednesday at Staples Center.
Tied 3-3, the season now culminates in a winner-take-all Game 7 Friday.

"It's a really high-tension situation," said Lakers coach Phil Jackson, who will be coaching in his first Game 7 in the NBA Finals.
No sweat for Bryant, who holds a 3-1 record in Game 7's: "I know what's at stake, but I'm not tripping."

In the loss, Ray Allen had a team-high 19 points. Pierce added 13 and Kevin Garnett 12. Rondo finished with 10 points but missed 10-of-15 shots.
After sinking in a series-best 56.3 percent in the previous game, the Celtics shot a series-low 33.3 percent.

Kendrick Perkins is helped off the floor midway through the first quarter with a right knee injury.

Added Paul Pierce on how he feels heading into the game: "Very confident.
"We know we have to come out a lot harder in Game 7. I promise you when I stand here on Thursday we won't be talking about energy."
If history has any say in the outcome, the Celtics have the edge.
They are 4-0 all-time in Game 7's against the Lakers, who hope to become just the seventh team in NBA history to come from behind to win a championship after facing a 3-2 deficit.
