2010 FIBA World Championship

More about FIBA World Championship
Similar to FIFA World Cup, the international football competition, FIBA World Championship is an international basketball competition.

The International Basketball Federation (French: Fédération Internationale de Basket-ball), more commonly known by the French acronym FIBA.
Originally known as the Fédération Internationale de Basketball Amateur (hence FIBA).
In 1989 it dropped the Amateur from its official name but retained the initialism, because of the first two letters of the word basketball.

A total of 214 national federations are now members, organized since 1989 into five zones or "commissions": Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania.

2010 FIBA World Championship
The 2010 FIBA World Championship is hosted by Turkey. The tournament runs from August 28 to September 12, 2010. It is co-organized by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), Turkish Basketball Federation and the 2010 Organizing Committee. It is considered as prestigious a competition as the Olympic Basketball Tournament.

For the third time (after the 1986 and 2006 tournaments), the World Championship will have 24 competing nations. As a result, the group stage games will be played in four different cities, and the knockout round will be hosted by Istanbul*.

Istanbul* - The largest city in Turkey and 5th largest city proper in the world with a population of 12.8 million In its long history, the city has served as the capital city of the Roman Empire (330–395), the Eastern Roman Empire (395–1204 and 1261–1453), the Latin Empire (1204–1261), and the Ottoman Empire (1453–1922). The city was chosen as joint European Capital of Culture for 2010.

The draw for the Championship took place on December 15, 2009 in Istanbul.

Team USA
6th September, Team USA defeated Angola in the Round of 16 with a score of 121-66.
9th September, in the Quarter-finals, Team USA defeated Russia, 89-79, and made their way to the Semi-finals.
On 11th September, USA will face undefeated* Lithuania for the placing in Finals.

undefeated* - USA, Lithuania and Turkey made their ways here, to the Semi-finals being undefeated of 7-0. The last semi-finalist team of Serbia, lost one of their matches in the Round of 24.

Well, before the match starts, I already knew something.
Which is, Team USA will win Lithuania again*.

why again*? - The two teams already met in an exhibition game in Madrid, Spain on Aug. 21. Surviving a horrendous start to the game, the US made just 3-of-21 shot attempts to start the game and scored just seven points in the first quarter, the Americans battled back and captured a 77-61 victory.
